Transportation Engineer - RoadwaysAt Hanson Professional Services, Inc., we are committed to transforming communities through innovative engineering solutions. We are seeking a full-time Transportation Engineer for our new downtown Chicago Loop or Lisle (metro) office. Our roadway team is dynamic, forward-thinking, and passionate about making a difference.
A Day in the Life of a Transportation Engineer at Hanson- Become an immediate contributor on major Hanson projects in Illinois, such as the Tollway I-355/I-88 Interchange master planning project near Chicago and the IDOT I-80 Mississippi River Bridge replacement and interchange reconstruction project between Illinois and Iowa.
- Help mentor entry-level engineers and support their technical development.
- Develop roadway design solutions for challenging transportation projects that include:
- Major interstate and tollway improvements and reconstruction.
- Urban thoroughfare reconstructions.
- Rural highway and road rehabilitation and reconstruction.
- Work with the latest Open Roads Designer (ORD) software, supported by internal training resources and active user groups for staff at all experience levels.
- Visit project sites to review existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and develop alternative solutions and recommendations.
- Provide occasional support for public involvement activities.
- Occasional out-of-town travel for client meetings and site visits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

The following qualifications will help you succeed in this role:
Skills- Illinois DOT/Tollway planning, design, plan production, and PS&E experience.
- Working knowledge of roadway design software such as Open Roads Designer.
- Familiarity with Open Roads Designer 3D modeling.
- Desire to mentor and guide entry-level technical staff.
- Interest in continued learning, professional growth, and expanding technical and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work paid overtime when needed to meet project deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including 2+ years focused on roadway design or transportation engineering.
- Roadway design experience with the Illinois Tollway and/or IDOT preferred.
- Illinois P.E. or the ability to reciprocate a license from another state within 6 months.

Salary range: $100,000 - $135,000 per year.
Compensation will be based on experience, technical qualifications, and overall alignment with the role. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
