Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; equivalent field and commissioning experience may be accepted.

· Typically 5+ years in electrical construction, testing, start-up or commissioning on complex facilities.

· Required experience with mission-critical power distribution and emergency power; data center commissioning experience strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated participation in energization, protection testing, load-bank testing and failure-mode testing.

· Preferred experience with digital completions platforms, EPMS and integrated systems testing.

Specific Skills & Knowledge

· Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage distribution, generators, UPS, batteries, ATS/STS, grounding and protection systems.

· Ability to interpret one-lines, schematics, studies, relay/test reports and manufacturer data.

· Safe switching-plan review, test procedure development and electrical troubleshooting.

· Strong technical documentation and coordination skills.

· Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, applicable IEEE/NETA guidance and safe energization practices.

Job Description Plans, coordinates, witnesses and documents commissioning of electrical power and life-safety interfaces assigned to the project. The role confirms that equipment is safely installed, tested, energized and proven across normal, emergency and failure modes in accordance with approved design documents, studies, specifications, manufacturer requirements and Owner/Tenant criteria. It owns electrical commissioning evidence and escalates readiness or reliability risks to the Project Commissioning Lead.

· Develop and execute electrical commissioning procedures, energization plans and test scripts through Levels 1–5.

· Verify completion of prerequisite inspections and electrical acceptance tests before energization and functional testing.

· Coordinate utilities, subcontractors, vendors, testing agencies, controls teams and operations during switching and testing.

· Manage electrical deficiencies, retests, test records and turnover documentation to verified closure.

· Report electrical system readiness, constraints, risk and forecast completion to the Project Commissioning Lead.
