Required Skills & Experience
Minimum education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Building Services or related Engineering discipline; equivalent field and commissioning experience may be accepted.
Typically 5+ years in mechanical construction, start-up or commissioning on complex facilities.
Required experience with mission-critical HVAC and hydronic systems; data center commissioning experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated field testing, troubleshooting, deficiency management and technical documentation experience. Strong knowledge of HVAC, hydronics, heat rejection, ventilation, plumbing and associated control sequences.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, plans, details, submittals, TAB reports and manufacturer data.
Test procedure development, data analysis and root-cause troubleshooting.
Clear field communication and disciplined recordkeeping.
Working knowledge of ASHRAE guidance, applicable mechanical/plumbing codes and safe start-up practices.
Job Description Plans, coordinates, witnesses and documents commissioning of mechanical and process-support systems assigned to the project. The role confirms that installation, pre-start checks, vendor start-up, balancing, functional performance and integrated operation satisfy approved design documents, sequences, specifications and Owner/Tenant requirements. It owns discipline evidence and issue follow-through while reporting readiness and risk to the Project Commissioning Lead.
Develop and execute mechanical commissioning procedures and test scripts for assigned systems through Levels 1–5.
Verify construction completion and commissioning prerequisites before equipment energization, start-up and functional testing.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, TAB providers, controls personnel and operations representatives during testing.
Record results, raise and manage deficiencies, verify corrective work and maintain complete turnover evidence.
Provide accurate mechanical-system status, constraints, forecasts and technical recommendations to the Project Commissioning Lead.
