The Technical Sales Engineer (Applications Engineer) will be the key engineering interface to Con Met's customers, working closely with Key Account Manager and engineering teams to facilitate current and new business opportunities within the plastics group. In this role you will be the primary interface with operations related to engineering/customer issues, providing engineering and project management leadership and direction to internal and external customers.
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for development of customer engineering relationships, field engineering support, and promotion of Con Met technical/product solutions.
This role will be based in Lisle, IL.

- Supports and manages plastics development projects with responsibility for setting priorities, meeting customer deadlines, and coordinating required activities via the APQP process.
- Acts as a customer engineering liaison, building and maintaining a strong customer network.
- Creates and maintains project schedule and milestone tracking to drive projects to successful completion ensuring accountability amongst all key stakeholders.
- Creates project justifications and ensures target financial goals are achieved.
- Responsible for quoting.
- Facilitates decision making and/or selection of products, components or specific product development projects.
- Drives for continuous improvement of Con Met products and Con Met product development processes.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum five years' industry experience.
- Prior customer facing experience.
- Automotive or commercial vehicle experience.
- Three years of plastics injection molding experience highly preferred.
- Experience with the PPAP process and quality documentation including PFMEA's, DFMEA's, Control Plans, and APQP checklists.

Compensation & Benefits- The full salary range for the position, across all geographies, is $91,858 - $157,470 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
- Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 - September 30.
