Position: CATERING LEAD CHEF

Catering Lead Chef

Full-Time | 40+ Hours per Week

Weekday and weekend morning and afternoon production shifts, with occasional evening and weekend event shifts required.

Applicants must be 21 years or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift 50 lbs.

We are a full-service catering company seeking an experienced and versatile Lead Chef to oversee production and event execution. This high-energy leadership role manages the daily flow of food production in our commissary kitchen, setting the standard for quality, efficiency, and consistency across all catering orders.

The Lead Chef is responsible for maintaining exceptional food quality, sanitation standards, and a professional kitchen environment. We are looking for a confident leader who communicates clearly, delegates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced setting. This position requires strong multitasking abilities to manage both small- and large-scale catering production simultaneously.

Approximately 95% of the role is based in our commissary kitchen, where catering orders are prepared, staged, and packed for transport. The remaining 5% involves working on-site as the Lead Event Chef, overseeing meal setup and service execution. Both environments demand outstanding organization, attention to detail, and strong time-management skills.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervising daily hot and cold food production
  • Sauce preparation and high-volume, fast-paced prep
  • On-site cooking, grilling, and managing chef action stations
  • Executing catered events, including weddings, tastings, and upscale social functions
  • Leading interactive food stations and overseeing presentation standards
  • Managing workflow from prep through final plating
  • Ordering and receiving products from vendors
  • Developing kitchen production schedules and prep lists

Formal culinary training is preferred. Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a sanitation certification. Flexibility is essential, as weekly schedules may vary and responsibilities may shift based on event demands.

For over 30 years, our catering company has partnered with large corporate clients, premier wedding venues throughout the Chicagoland area, and hosted upscale social events and galas. This is a rewarding opportunity for a creative, energetic chef who enjoys leadership, collaboration, and contributing to some of the area’s most exceptional events.
