Special Education Teacher - Life Skills/Functional Program

Regional School District No. 20 is seeking qualified applicants for a Special Education Teacher position, for the  school year, in a High School Life Skills/Functional program serving students in grades 9-12 with significant support needs. The teacher will provide instruction in functional academics, independent living, social/communication, and will support transition planning and community-based learning for grades 9-12 as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide direct instruction using evidence-based practices in functional academics, daily living skills, communication, social/emotional learning, and early vocational readiness.

* Design and implement instruction aligned to IEP goals, including accommodations and modifications across settings.

* Develop and oversee transition-focused instruction (school-based work experiences, job sampling).

* Collect and analyze student performance data; monitor progress and prepare progress reports in accordance with district timelines.

* Serve as case manager for assigned students: facilitate PPT/IEP meetings, coordinate services, and ensure required documentation and compliance.

* Collaborate with families, general education staff, related service providers, and community agencies to support postsecondary outcomes.

Qualifications

* Valid Connecticut Certification: 065, 165 or 265

Certification-eligible candidates will also be considered

Salary & Benefits:

Per Regional School District No. 20 Education Association contract
