Position Description
Reporting to the Director of Cognition and Learning, the Director of the Quinn Assessment Center at Forman School is a key member of Forman’s team. This role is responsible for the overall functioning of the Assessment Center, including clinical operations and future vision. Forman seeks an experienced and innovative leader who will work with the Director of Cognition and Learning, to further refine and run a state‑of‑the‑art Assessment Center.
Building and maintaining relationships with area schools and providers will be an essential responsibility in this particular position.
- Clinical Operations:
Oversee and manage clinical operations of the Quinn Assessment Center at Forman School - Construct a template of evaluation and report‑writing process and identify areas to continually increase efficiency and quality of the product
- Regularly review testing report structure to make additions or alterations such that the Quinn Assessment Center at Forman is established as and remains a premier evaluation resource. Meet regularly with the Director of Cognition & Learning and Head of School for financial reviews. Remain current in the knowledge and application of evidence‑based treatment models and psychological testing instruments through attendance of at least two educational seminars or conferences per year.
Complete additional reading of appropriate journals and books in the field of clinical diagnosis and treatment. Maintain valid professional licensure and malpractice insurance. Perform other duties as required. Consultation/Related Services - Consistently and thoroughly track evaluations and related services
- Meet regularly with outside practitioners, schools, and community organizers to develop a robust community of referral sources
- Hold regular meetings with the Director of Cognition & Learning to assess staffing needs and support hiring initiatives, as growth allows, including but not limited to the integration of assistive technology evaluation measures.
- Inclusion of consultation with Speech and Language Pathologists on a consultant basis
- Intersection with educators in the Cognition and Learning Department
- Consult with Cognition & Learning leadership to help bring research into practice across all Forman departments
- Consult with the Office of Admission team:
- As needed, review incoming applicant evaluations and identify areas of need for specific followup, including but not limited to: consultation with outside treatment or evaluation providers
- Identification of “gaps” in diagnostic history and/or proposals of additional testing, where appropriate
- As needed, participate in meetings with parents and consultants regarding goodness of fit for prospective students
- Provide related services in support of the College Counseling Office:
- Complete accommodations application processes for College Board (i.e., SAT and AP) and ACT exams
- Assist graduating seniors in completing accommodations paperwork for college
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the growth of the Quinn Assessment Center
- Collaborate with regional graduate programs in psychology to establish training partnerships, including practicum placements, predoctoral internships, and postdoctoral fellowships.
- Develop a training program for predoctoral internships and postdoctoral fellowships with an effort toward APPIC accreditation when appropriate
- Develop a structured training program for predoctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows, with the goal of pursuing APPIC accreditation when appropriate.
- Conduct regular and consistent meetings with assigned staff for supervision in either individual or small group settings
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Office to promote the Center’s services and expand its reach, including through social media
- Doctoral Degree in Clinical or School Psychology
- Current Connecticut License to practice Psychology
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with a wide variety of assessment tools appropriate for pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across disciplines, including but not limited to educational consultants, advocates, private evaluators, and learning specialists
- Managerial experience
