Rifugio Litchfield Hills is a new cycling and outdoor experience hub launched by KC&E Adventures. Located on the edge of White Memorial, our space combines a curated retail selection, service center, bike rentals, and a full slate of cycling programs and events. We’re focused on creating an inclusive and elevated riding community in northwest Connecticut.
OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and motivated bicycle mechanic to join our service team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical ability, a passion for bikes, and excellent customer service skills. The mechanic will be responsible for performing a wide range of service tasks—from basic tune-ups to advanced diagnostics on modern drivetrain systems and e-bikes.
Responsibilities- Perform bike repairs and maintenance on a variety of bicycles, including road, mountain, gravel, and e-bikes
- Build new bikes and complete quality control checks on incoming inventory
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide service estimates
- Complete drivetrain overhauls, brake bleeds, wheel truing, and suspension service (as experience allows)
- Work with customers to explain repairs, recommend services, and ensure a great experience
- Support rental fleet upkeep, including regular checks and quick fixes between rentals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
- Occasionally assist with retail or ride events when needed
- Previous experience working as a bicycle mechanic (shop or equivalent setting preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of current bike technology including:
- Electronic shifting systems (e.g., SRAM AXS, Shimano Di2)
- Hydraulic disc brakes
- E-bike systems (Specialized Turbo experience is a plus)
- Attention to detail and commitment to high service standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness to be part of a small, collaborative, and community-focused team
- Familiarity with point-of-sale and service ticketing software (e.g., Lightspeed)
- Bike fitting experience or interest in learning
- A love for gravel, trail, or adventure riding
