Communications Desk Assistant
Job Description
The Communication Desk Assistant operates in the Georgia Transmission Control Center and plays a crucial role in supporting Power System Coordinators. This position involves controlling the Integrated Transmission System (ITS) in Georgia, facilitating effective communication about system events, and preparing detailed event reports. The role includes administrative tasks such as tracking system events on transmission lines and fielding calls from personnel entering and exiting substations.
Responsibilities
* Initiate and maintain communication with internal and external customers during system events.
* Assist Transmission Power System Coordinators in developing and correcting outage reports and maintaining records.
* Answer phone calls from field personnel and enter the information into a database.
* Perform administrative and clerical tasks in the GCC.
* Provide communication to field personnel during routine and emergency conditions.
* Track system events on transmission lines and equipment.
* Maintain records of all outages.
Essential Skills - Variety of candidates will be considered. Could have experience in:
* Proficiency in documentation control and electrical systems.
* Experience with reporting tools and dispatching.
* Strong customer service skills, preferably with a call center experience.
* Technical knowledge in electronics and electrical troubleshooting.
* Proficiency with computer applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and interdependently.
* Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
* College degree highly preferred.
* Field experience in electric power utility generation or transmission maintenance is beneficial.
* Technical military experience is considered an asset.
* Knowledge of electrical fundamentals or control center operations is desirable.
Work Environment
This position is based in-office at the Georgia Transmission Control Center. The role requires a flexible work schedule with a four-day workweek (10-hour shifts) from either Tuesday to Friday or Monday to Thursday. Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required during major storms. The role involves answering phones, submitting requests, sending emails, and dispatching calls to operators. Data handling from transmission assets will be conducted using Excel.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience with Georgia Power.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lithia Springs, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
