Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician, Weekend Shift
Shift hours:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
Role:
Support the Atlanta distribution center by troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor automation, performing routine facility maintenance, and ensuring safe, reliable operations. Duties include equipment preventative maintenance and repair, managing spare parts inventory, and general maintenance tasks.
- Maintenance and repair of motor‑driven roller (MDR) and line shaft conveyor systems with belts, motors, o‑rings, scanners, printers, and supporting equipment.
- Use WMS during routine conveyor maintenance to optimize product flow, adjust photo‑eyes, monitor performance, and apply automation.
- Use CMMS to schedule and manage daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly work assignments.
- Follow site lock‑out/tag‑out safety policies during repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for all conveyor system automation and supporting equipment.
- Manage equipment spare parts inventory to ensure required parts are on site.
- Assist in directing site contractor services and preventive maintenance for HVAC, generators, compressors, sprinkler systems, fire protection, electrical maintenance, dock door and leveler maintenance, pest control, janitorial, and other site equipment.
- Assist safety team with health & safety initiatives, identify and correct hazards.
- Conduct weekly inspections to identify and correct issues.
- Monitor all electrical, mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems; schedule service provider response and repair.
- Perform minor building maintenance as needed.
- Manage forklift and pallet jack inspections, PM scheduling, repairs.
- Help manage forklift and pedestrian traffic flow and safety signage.
- Partner with conveyor WMS software provider and IT to resolve automation issues.
- Support lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and 5S methodology.
- Excellent technical and operational knowledge of conveyor system automation and supporting equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot conveyor system automation and PLCs in a high‑volume distribution center.
- Proficient in pneumatics and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, part breakdowns, diagrams, and electrical drawings.
- PC and Microsoft Office proficiency required for CMMS and WMS use.
- High School diploma.
- Experience repairing and maintaining conveyor system equipment.
- Strong aptitude for using required tools for equipment repairs.
- Understanding of blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting.
- Previous experience in a related position, preferably in a distribution center or equipment maintenance environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; teamwork with departments, vendors, contractors.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self‑management.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Positive mental attitude, dependable, dedicated, strong work ethic.
- Drive for continuous improvement and business excellence.
- Ability to train and mentor team members on equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Availability for on‑call coverage outside normal shift hours to support DC operations.
- Technical vocational training or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, facilities/plant management, or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of automation systems using WMS and CMMS.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with forklift, scissor lift, and single‑man lift.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Distribution warehouse environment. The applicant will walk and occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 40 lbs. Noise level is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
