Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician
Pay Rate: $25/hr to $30/hr on W2
Duration: 6 months contract
Location: Lithia Springs, GA 30122
Shift
Schedule:
1st shift (Monday – Thursday 7am – 5:30pm). Possible OT, rarely mandated, with plenty of notice.
- Maintenance and repair of motor driven roller (MDR) and line shaft conveyor systems including belts, motors, o-rings, scanners, printers, and supporting equipment.
- Utilize warehouse management system (WMS) during routine conveyor maintenance, optimize product flow, adjust photo‑eyes, monitor performance, and apply automation.
- Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage and schedule daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly work assignments.
- Follow lock‑out, tag‑out safety policies during repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for all distribution center conveyor automation and supporting equipment.
- Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for repairs.
- Assist with directing site contractor services, including HVAC, generator, air compressor, sprinkler systems, fire risers, fire extinguisher inspections, electrical maintenance, dock door and leveler maintenance, pest control, janitorial, and other equipment services.
- Help safety team execute health & safety initiatives and report hazards.
- Conduct weekly inspections and resolve issues.
- Monitor electrical, mechanical, lighting, & plumbing systems; schedule service provider response.
- Perform minor building maintenance.
- Manage MHE (forklift, pallet jack) inspections, PM scheduling, reporting, and repairs.
- Assist with forklift and pedestrian traffic flow and safety visual management.
- Collaborate with conveyor WMS software provider and IT to resolve automation issues.
- Drive lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and 5S methodology.
- Excellent technical and operational knowledge of conveyor automation and supporting equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot conveyor automation and PLCs in a high‑volume distribution center.
- Proficiency in pneumatics and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown, diagrams, and electrical circuitry drawings.
- PC and Microsoft Office proficiency; experience using CMMS and WMS software.
- Conveyor system equipment repair and preventive maintenance experience.
- Strong aptitude for using repair tools.
- Basic understanding of blueprints, schematics, and problem analysis.
- Experience in a related position, preferably in a distribution center or equipment maintenance environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; positive teamwork.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self‑management.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills; effective and efficient issue resolution.
- Positive mental attitude, dependable, dedicated, and strong work ethic.

- Ability to train and mentor other team members.
- Ability to provide “on‑call” coverage outside of regular shift hours and respond to site as needed.
- Technical vocational training or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, facilities/plant management, or equivalent maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of automation systems using WMS & CMMS.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with forklift, scissor lift, and single‑man lift.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
