Performs minor and major repairs to all production and facility related equipment. These repairs include machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic controls, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Responsibilities- Follow all general safety regulations and use provided safety equipment as required.
- Understand ISO 9001 requirements / Olympic Quality Policy. Always follow work instructions and procedures as established through Olympic Quality Policy.
- Keep area neat, organized and clean as well as follow 5S principles as they are appropriate.
- Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gauges or micrometers.
- Measure work pieces and layout work, using precision measuring devices.
- Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
- Move machine controls index work pieces and adjust machines for pre-selected operational settings.
- Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
- Select machine tools to be used, using knowledge of machines and production requirements.
- Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.
- Activate machine start-up switches to grind, lap, hone, debar, shear, or cut work pieces, according to specifications.
- Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces.
- Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, using knowledge of machine operation.
- Brush or spray lubricating compounds on work pieces or turn valve handles and direct flow of coolant against tools and work pieces.
- Lift and position work pieces, manually or with hoists, and secure them in hoppers or on machine tables, faceplates, or chucks, using clamps.
- Repair or replace machine parts, using hand tools, or notify engineering personnel when corrective action is required.
- Maintain stocks of machine parts and machining tools.
- Thread and hand-feed materials through machine cutters or abraders.
- Adjust air cylinders and setting stops to set traverse lengths and feed arm strokes.
- Slide spacers between buffs on spindles to set spacing.
- Must be able to weld.
- Cross train in other positions as required.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed by the employee’s supervisor.

Education / ExperiencePrefer two-year technical training, associate’s degree or military training and five years’ experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents and training materials such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
Mathematical SkillsMust have the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions in practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
