We’re hiring a Senior Automation Engineer to own, optimise, and scale automated manufacturing systems at a high-volume production site in Lititz, PA
. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll serve as the primary technical owner for end-to-end automation systems
—from front-end engineering and project delivery through to ongoing operational support.
You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Packaging, Quality, IT/OT, and site leadership to drive safety, quality, compliance, reliability, and cost optimisation across manufacturing systems in a regulated environment.
What You’ll Do- Own and execute the site automation support strategy
, aligned with global standards and manufacturing objectives - Act as the technical lead for MAKE automation systems
, covering design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement - Lead and mentor an automation support engineering team
, including participation in 24/7 on-call rotation - Standardise and scale automation solutions across multiple sites
- Identify and deliver process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Evaluate, select, and integrate automation tools, third-party systems, equipment, and vendors
- Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, quality, safety, and cybersecurity requirements
- Implement monitoring and reliability strategies to proactively prevent system downtime
- Lead investigations and CAPA activities related to quality, safety, and reliability issues
- Collaborate with process scientists on technical transfer strategies across sites or networks
- Maintain accurate documentation for systems, workflows, and change control
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field
- 4+ years of relevant engineering or automation experience
- 3+ years of people leadership experience with proven success in performance management
- Hands-on experience in automation, controls engineering, and system integration
- Background in consumer goods, OTC, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong programming skills and experience building custom automation solutions
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA
- Experience working across IT/OT systems in manufacturing
- Exposure to global automation standards and Centers of Excellence
💰
Base salary: $110,500 – $156,000 (depending on experience, skills, and location)
