Join Our Team as an Environmental Engineer at ARRO Consulting!

This position supports environmental compliance efforts across multiple disciplines, including air quality, wastewater, stormwater, waste, and water management. The Environmental Engineer applies engineering principles and regulatory knowledge to help clients maintain compliance with federal, state and local environmental requirements.

Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, this role involves regulatory interpretation, permitting, reporting, and technical analysis. The Environmental Engineer collaborates with project managers, technical staff, and regulatory agencies to deliver practical and effective compliance solutions.

This position reports to a Senior Scientist.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
  • Interpret environmental laws and regulations to ensure client compliance.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including Tier II, TRI, AIMs, 26R, hazardous waste, annual combustion, and air emissions reports.
Permitting and Environmental Management
  • Manage environmental permits related to air quality, stormwater, wastewater, waste, and industrial pretreatment.
  • Maintain compliance calendars to track deadlines and regulatory updates.
Audits and Assessments
  • Conduct compliance audits and assessments to identify risks and corrective actions.
  • Support clients in responding to regulatory inspections and inquiries.
Technical Expertise and Guidance
  • Perform air emissions calculations and oversee stormwater sampling and data collection.
  • Provide expertise in waste management, including hazardous, residual, universal, and recyclable materials.
  • Deliver technical guidance and training to clients and internal teams.
Client Collaboration and Project Support
  • Coordinate with industrial and municipal clients, regulatory agencies and laboratories.
  • Support project managers in delivering compliance-focused solutions.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including proposals and presentations.
  • Any other duties necessary to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the organization.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong understanding of air, water and waste regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental compliance software.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Method 9 certification and experience with industrial pretreatment programs preferred.
Physical RequirementsWork Environment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry and document review.
  • Required to have close visual acuity for reviewing reports, analyzing data, and working on a computer.
  • May perform fieldwork, including site visits and inspections, in varying environmental conditions.
  • Combination of office and field environments.
  • Collaborative environment involving interaction with internal teams, clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
  • May require occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or project demands.

Daily Work Location/Hours

The employee will be expected to report to an ARRO Consulting office on a regular basis in accordance with the established schedule. Hybrid work opportunities may be available after onboarding based on experience, performance and supervisor approval.
