Mechanical Drafter AV Systems

JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for converting sketches and specifications into 2D and 3D detailed mechanical drawings in AutoCAD, Fusion, Solid Works or similar programs. Create detailed and dimensioned layouts with necessary information for structural stamping and fabrication drawings. This position requires collaboration with A/V System Drafters in adding mechanical drawings into the drawing set (plan views, elevation views & details), implementing red lines and any other CAD-relevant tasks.

• Proficiency using AutoCAD required.
• Proficiency using Autodesk Fusion required.
• Revit and/or other 3D applications (e.g. Solid Works, Sketch Up, Navisworks, Revizto) preferred.
• Understanding of Architectural & Structural Drawing packages and AV industry drafting standards a plus.
• Experience in Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills internally & with clients.
• Punctual, must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Strong team player and collaboration skills.

• BS in Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Audiovisual or another related field – preferred.
• Experience with A/V systems, mechanical, structural or construction field preferred.

• May require 5-10% travel.

• Convert sketches and specifications into 2D & 3D mechanical details for AVL rigging.
• Create layouts in the correct scale, indicate dimensions, fastening methods, materials and other requirements needed for structural stamping and fabrication.
• Collaboration with A/V Systems drafters to include mechanical layouts and documents into drawing package and Sheet Set Manager (Plan views, enlargements, sections, elevations, mounting details, etc.), following company CAD standards.
• Incorporate red lines.
• Attend rigging design meetings.
• Creating data links or tables.
• Perform other CAD related tasks as instructed.
