General OverviewThe Water/Wastewater Team Lead is a senior-level engineering professional responsible for leading the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while overseeing a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff. This position serves as a technical leader, project manager, client relationship manager, and mentor, supporting the Company's strategic growth within the water and wastewater market.
The Water/Wastewater Team Lead is responsible for ensuring successful project execution, maintaining strong client relationships, fostering staff development, and driving business development efforts. This role requires extensive technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions for municipal, utility, and industrial clients.
The Water/Wastewater Team Lead reports directly to the Service Line Leader.
Leadership and Team Management
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to water and wastewater engineering staff.
Manage team workload, staffing assignments, and resource planning.
Support employee development through coaching, performance feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts.
Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
Support succession planning and talent development initiatives within the practice.
Project Management
Lead and oversee water and wastewater engineering projects from planning through construction.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and subconsultants.
Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Review project deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, and compliance.
Ensure projects are completed in accordance with contractual obligations and company standards.
Client Relationship Management
Serve as a primary point of contact for municipal, utility, and industrial clients.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
Attend client meetings, board meetings, public meetings, and industry events.
Understand client needs and identify opportunities for additional services.
Promote client satisfaction and long-term partnership development.
Business Development
Support strategic growth initiatives within the water and wastewater practice.
Identify and pursue new project opportunities and client relationships.
Participate in proposal development, qualifications packages, interviews, and presentations.
Assist with contract negotiations and project scoping efforts.
Collaborate with leadership to establish annual growth objectives and business plans.
Maintain awareness of market trends, funding opportunities, and emerging client needs.

Technical Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and oversight for projects involving:
- Water treatment facilities
- Wastewater treatment facilities
- Wastewater collection systems
- Pump stations and lift stations
- Storage tanks and reservoirs
- Transmission and conveyance systems
- Utility master planning
- Regulatory compliance and permitting
Review engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
Provide guidance regarding industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives.
