General Overview- The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer is a highly experienced technical professional responsible for leading the planning, design, permitting, and execution of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This position provides technical leadership, project management, client relationship management, and mentorship to engineering staff while supporting the strategic growth of ARRO Consulting's Water Services practice.
- The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer serves as a trusted advisor to clients, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with ARRO's quality standards.
- This position reports directly to the General Manager.
- Technical Leadership
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for engineering studies, reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Perform engineering analyses related to water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and related infrastructure.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documents prepared by engineering staff.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, permitting requirements, and industry standards.
- Recommend innovative engineering solutions that improve project quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Project Management
- Serve as Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and work plans.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and profitability.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and consultants.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Client Relations & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with municipal, industrial, and private-sector clients.
- Serve as a primary client contact throughout project execution.
- Participate in business development activities, client meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and long-term client partnerships.
- Support strategic growth initiatives within the Water Services practice.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to project teams.
- Participate in employee development, performance feedback, and succession planning.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Construction Support
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), review shop drawings, and evaluate change orders.
- Conduct site visits and field observations as required.
- Coordinate with contractors, owners, and regulatory agencies.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ARRO quality management procedures.
- Maintain professional engineering standards and ethical practices.
- Promote safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater engineering.
