Position

Purpose

The Technical Producer is a key leader within the producing team, combining project and client management expertise with a deep technical background. This role is responsible for shaping the technical approach, methodology, and execution strategy in collaboration with cross‑disciplinary technical teams. The Technical Producer serves as a primary client‑facing representative for technical delivery, ensuring that client goals are fully understood, prioritized, and achieved.

The Senior role reflects depth and breadth of experience, inclusive of scale, complexity, client type, budget and risk. In addition to managing project‑specific execution, the Technical Producer may also develop long‑term technical strategies for clients with recurring or multi‑market initiatives, aligning technical approaches across global regions, overseeing vendor selection, and building scalable staffing models.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a primary client point of contact for all technical aspects of projects.
  • Translate client objectives and priorities into executable technical strategies, tailoring outcomes—such as approach, vendor selection, and long‑term planning—to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on technical execution.
Technical Leadership & Strategy
  • Define and lead the technical methodology, workflow, and execution strategy across projects.
  • Guide long‑term technical planning for recurring or international projects, including global vendor selection and staffing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Technical Direction team as needed.
  • Ensure technical solutions are innovative, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technology, and resources.
Project Planning & Execution
  • Collaborate with the project producers to integrate technical strategy and delivery requirements into all project phases.
  • Oversee load‑in, rehearsal, and show schedules, ensuring prerequisites such as sound checks, programming time, crew scheduling, and ESU compliance are met.
  • Anticipate risks and develop contingency plans to maintain seamless technical delivery.
  • Partner with internal technical teams to align resources and expertise.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring consistent quality, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness across markets.
  • Maintain ownership of project fundamentals—including budget, schedule, documentation, and staffing.
  • Management of the Project Production team, project vendor leads & crew during the project's pre‑production, onsite and wrap.

Qualifications and Experience Academic / Vocational
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical production of live events, theatrical arts, location‑based entertainment, and/or other entertainment‑related fields are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Experienced with budgets of $2.5M+.
Knowledge and Skills
