Position

Purpose

A Material Handler will assist with goods in and out of TAIT facilities. This position will require the safe operation of both forklift and overhead crane routinely moving loads under 5 tons and less than 30 feet in length. They will help support the demands of the operation with minimal guidance. It is a requirement of the position to obtain and maintain clearance to operate both forklifts and cranes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily crane and forklift safety inspections
  • Ensure daily refuse route is clear
  • Unload material delivery trucks utilizing forklifts and overhead crane
  • Mark all inbound materials with identifying information for traceability
  • Relocate and store inbound materials throughout the operation
  • Remove remnant materials to the proper area for vendor pick up
  • Assist with loading outgoing product or raw materials
  • Assist or perform daily inventory cycle counts
  • Understand the manufacturing process and the materials produced in the department to support process
  • Perform tasks to company standards and meet department goals
  • Take initiative to improve methodology and find solutions to boost productivity
  • Communicate with management
  • Manage priorities as they change throughout a shift; complete allocated work in a timely manner
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including rigging, tools, and equipment
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Organize and manage raw material areas; warehouse, shed, material racks, overstock areas
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working with forklifts
  • Previous experience working with overhead cranes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Epicor, Slack, and/or Box is a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently, and as a member of a small team
  • Ability to handle changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Flexibility with work schedule

The Role Are
  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to being outdoors for short periods of time, with exposures to different temperatures and inclement weather
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required; this includes safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety‑toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
