Responsibilities

The Apprentice (HVAC or Refrigeration) provides support to an installation team by completing tasks in a safe, prompt, accurate, and professional manner. The role includes following customer specifications, applicable building codes, and proper piping practices, installing equipment per project requirements under the direction of a senior technician, and performing all assigned work safely and responsibly. Key duties include:

  • Installing HVAC equipment such as air handler drains, piping for split systems, overhead duct hangers, and ductwork.
  • Installing refrigeration components such as display case drains, walk‑in box drains, overhead hangers, and piping.
  • Using power and hand tools, powered vehicles, machinery, and PPE as directed by Source, the customer, and contract policy.
  • Escalating safety, quality, or other concerns promptly to senior technicians or project managers.
  • Maintaining clean and professional job sites and work areas, properly storing or removing spare and waste materials.
  • Providing assistance and support to senior technicians on a job.
  • Carrying out all responsibilities ethically and professionally.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Installing all types of piping, including PVC and copper (brazing, copper line sets).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or completion of a trade program or technical school (required).
  • 0–1 year of experience in construction, refrigeration, HVAC, or a related trade (preferred).
  • Ability to operate a scissor lift or forklift (preferred).
  • Knowledge of job‑site safety and ability to perform work in accordance with safe work practices and rules.
  • Ability to use basic power and hand tools, including drills, fuel gas tools, electrical meters, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to be punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to work in a variety of working conditions, including scaling ladders, outdoor environments, hot or cold temperatures, and noisy settings.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills, including fractional addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements.
  • Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work constructively in a team environment and follow instructions from senior technicians.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to use typical business tools, including e‑mail, Word, and Excel.
