Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Field/Service Technician
Job Overview
Troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain equipment assets including vehicles, trailers, aerials, and yellow iron.
Practice safety rules, follow verbal and written instructions, and safely use hand and power tools. Report to and assist the immediate supervisor. Perform quality work as determined by project specifications. Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift. Must work well as part of a team.
ScheduleWork hours:
2:00pm – 11:00pm, Monday through Friday.
- Utilize various electronic diagnostic equipment and perform minor and major repairs to electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, gasoline, and diesel systems.
- Work primarily in shop conditions, with occasional mobile work that may include overnight travel and out-of-state travel.
- Work overtime as required by the company.
- Perform work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or GED. A two‑year technical, vocational, or trade school diploma or degree in auto, truck, and/or heavy equipment is desired.
- Five years verifiable experience in automotive/truck maintenance.
- Fluid Power Society and/or ASE certifications desired.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- High awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules.
- Pass physical examination, pre‑employment drug and alcohol screen, and follow company drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, towers, vessels, excavations, etc.
- Stop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
- Carry up to 50 lbs. of tools or materials; get assistance when lifting items over 50 lbs.
- Stand or walk for long periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
- Work extended hours on your feet.
- Maintain required personal protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.
$25–$40 per hour (DOE). Paid weekly.
