Maintenance Mechanic – Little Canada, MN

Industry: Industrial Manufacturing

Pay: $26–$35/hour

Experience: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to keep production equipment and facility systems operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This is a hands‑on role focused on troubleshooting, equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and reducing production downtime. You'll work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production while supporting company safety, GMP, Food Safety, and Quality Management standards.

What You'll Do
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial production machinery, processing equipment, and facility systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and repair or replace worn and damaged components.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Safely perform equipment startup, shutdown, verification, and post-repair testing.
  • Ensure machine guards and safety devices are properly installed and functioning.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Fabricate or modify equipment components using cutting, welding, and other metalworking techniques as needed.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately and on time.
  • Follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, confined space, and hot work requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve performance.
  • Identify root causes of recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and LOTO requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.
  • Strong mathematical skills involving measurements, fractions, ratios, percentages, and metric conversions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a root-cause-focused approach.
Preferred Experience
  • Plastics manufacturing or similar industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Technical training, apprenticeship, or vocational education in industrial maintenance.
  • Welding, fabrication, and metalworking experience.
  • Experience using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Experience working within GMP and SQF-driven manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement practices.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to work safely around industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physical maintenance activities throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to provide maintenance support across multiple business units as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
