Controls Engineer
Job DescriptionAs a Controls Engineer, you will provide direction and support for PLC ladder logic programming and HMI application programming. You will write and modify PLC programs to control industrial food processing equipment, support operations and maintenance to ensure maximum efficiency, and contribute to the improvement of internal processes, standards, and designs. Your role will also involve providing technical mentorship and direction for other engineers, maintenance, and operations personnel.
You will consistently demonstrate creativity and innovation in finding solutions and develop alternative solutions by identifying the root cause of problems.
- Develop and follow control standards.
- Create and modify HMI screens for operator interaction.
- Create and review designs, drawings, BOMs, and specifications, ensuring projects meet specifications, standards, and performance requirements.
- Write processes, procedures, and policies as required.
- Prepare written documentation, reports, correspondence, and specifications.
- Manage capital projects from conceptual design through start-up, including cost estimating, specifications, design, and PID review.
- Direct contractors, work with OEM technicians, and collaborate with plant personnel on the floor.
- Oversee installation, I/O checkout, startup, and plant acceptance.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and automation.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI systems.
- Ability to write and troubleshoot PLC code, primarily Allen-Bradley.
- Experience in creating, modifying, and deploying HMI interfaces, primarily Allen-Bradley Panel View ME/SE.
- Experience with higher-level programming languages such as Python and
- Experience in writing, modifying, and querying relational databases (SQL).
- Experience troubleshooting and fine-tuning machine vision systems and cameras.
- Ability to troubleshoot and safely work with electrical systems, including low voltage wiring, communication cables, and safety signals.
- Knowledge of Ethernet communication networks.
- Ability to create and read electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to independently create functional and cost-effective designs/processes that meet complex specification requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's Degree required with relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience working with and configuring industrial machine controls.
Permanent position based out of Little Chute, WI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
