Overview
Job Type: Regular. The Maintenance Technician III performs routine and breakdown maintenance on processing and packaging equipment and is responsible for keeping the plant running and in compliance with all rules and regulations by using safe methods of equipment repair/upkeep. This position performs repairs as needed by the department, troubleshoots processes, and assists with machine set ups and rebuilds as needed.
The Maintenance Technician III position requires leadership skills and upper level technical skills. This position may manage and administer the preventive maintenance program.

- Effectively communicate with crew from previous and current shifts.
- Work closely with production Supervisors, line leaders and production crews to answer questions and receive as much information as possible to perform the work successfully.
- Efficiently perform regular and preventative maintenance related to the plant, equipment, and grounds in compliance with standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, and safety policies as enforced by OSHA; keep all related records and logs accurate and up-to-date.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment during the packaging/production process as needed.
- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Effectively update and install equipment.
- Work closely with production to minimize downtime while maintaining quality.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all plant area processes.
- Accurately read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
- Train or mentor new Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- Prioritize daily workload and assign work as needed; follow-up on rush requests.
- Oversee all aspects of the preventive maintenance program:
- Review all production lines and plant systems to ensure required PM’s are entered into the program
- Manage the scheduling and completion of PM tasks.
- Assign PM tasks to maintenance workers.
- Perform weekly tracking of PM task completion and overdue tasks
- Efficiently and successfully complete PM tasks as needed.
- Responsible for food safety and quality; act as back up for the Supervisor/Manager related to food safety and quality.
- Complete and update work orders using in-house systems.
- This position may have regular contact with suppliers and vendors as well as occasional contact with regulatory agencies for inspections.
- Perform work accurately, reliably, thoroughly, timely, and within safety guidelines.
- Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.

- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.

QualificationsEducation Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical school coursework/Degree in boiler, welding, electrical, HVAC maintenance preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum four (5) years of maintenance/electrical experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude required.
- Experience reading and understanding electrical prints and troubleshooting electrical circuits required.
