Role Description

The Econ/Gov Teacher is a full-time, on-site teaching role based at Little Elm High School in Little Elm, TX. The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging Economics and Government lessons aligned with district curriculum and state standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, teaching classes, facilitating discussions on economic systems and governmental structures, assessing student learning, and providing timely feedback.

The role involves maintaining accurate grade records, communicating with caregivers and colleagues, participating in professional development, and supporting campus initiatives such as tutoring, clubs, or academic events. The teacher is expected to create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, civic understanding, and respect for diverse perspectives.

Qualifications
  • Composite or Social Studies certification grades 9-12
  • Demonstrated understanding of Government Relations and the Public Sector, with the ability to connect real-world civic processes to classroom content.
  • Knowledge of Local Government structures and functions, and skill in integrating community and municipal examples into instruction.
  • Strong Communication abilities, including clear instructional delivery, constructive feedback, and effective collaboration with students, caregivers, and staff.
  • Solid Analytical Skills to interpret economic data, policy information, and primary sources, and to guide learners in evidence-based reasoning.
  • Valid teaching certification in Social Studies or a related field (or eligibility for certification in Texas), with specific preparation in Economics and Government preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Political Science, Economics, History, or a related discipline; advanced degree is an asset.
  • Experience designing standards-based lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials that support diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and to fostering a classroom culture of respect, engagement, and academic integrity.
  • Ability to use educational technology, digital resources, and data to enhance instruction and monitor student progress.
