Description

Interested individuals for all Boards, Commissions, and Committees must have been residents of Little Elm for a minimum of one year, be of high moral character and willing to devote time, effort and energy to the position, willing to attend regularly scheduled meetings, and must agree to serve a full term. Graduates of CGA (Citizens Government Academy) are preferable. Applications of individuals not chosen for a position on the Board, Commission, or Committee are kept on file for one year if a vacancy occurs.

Board Member

The Little Elm Economic Development Corporation is seeking eligible individuals to fill two open positions. The term will be from October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029.

The EDC meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at The HUB, located at 104 Hardwicke Lane.

The Economic Development Corporation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that provides leadership and vision for the Town of Little Elm's economic future. The EDC is charged with attracting new commercial businesses, new tourism opportunities, and new jobs to Little Elm. Our mission is to advance economic development in Little Elm while capitalizing on our lakeside character and sense of community.

Members of the EDC board are entrusted with recruiting, retaining, and entering into legal agreements with firms, companies, organizations, and enterprises that serve to increase the local tax base and create jobs within Little Elm.

CDC Board Member

The Little Elm Community Development Corporation is seeking eligible individuals to fill three open positions. The term will be from October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2028.

The CDC meets quarterly on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at The Rec at the Lakefront.

The Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that provides leadership and funding for projects that enhance and preserve Little Elm's quality of life.

The eight-member board, which includes seven citizens and one member of the Town Council, oversees and administers the use of funds for a wide variety of projects that benefit residents of Little Elm.

Often called the 4B because of the legislation that created it, the CDC's seven community volunteers are appointed by the Town Council.

The state legislation which authorized CDCs specifies that funds can be used for, among other things, land, buildings, equipment, facilities, expenditures and improvements for professional and amateur sports facilities, park facilities and events, entertainment, and convention and tourist facilities.

In Little Elm, CDC funds are used primarily for construction projects, parks development, special events, and community improvement activities that help create an atmosphere which embraces the Town as a center for family entertainment and amusement.

Planning And Zoning Commission

The Little Elm Planning and Zoning Commission is seeking eligible individuals to fill two open position. The term will be from October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Little Elm Town Hall.

The Little Elm Planning and Zoning Commission is the primary advisory board to the Town Council on development issues. These land use matters include rezoning requests, ordinance revisions, approving plats, comprehensive planning, tree preservation, and other issues regarding new growth and existing development in the Town and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).

Animal Shelter Advisory Board

The Little Elm Animal Shelter Advisory Board is seeking eligible individuals to fill three open positions. The term will be from October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029.

The Board meets on an as needed basis. The membership shall include a licensed veterinarian, one representative from an animal welfare organization, one municipal official, one person whose duties include the daily operations of the animal shelter, and one at-large position as appointed by the town council. Duties shall include making recommendations to animal services regarding policies and procedures of the animal shelter operations, making recommendations to town council on revisions to chapter 18 (Animals) of the Little Elm Code of Ordinances, making recommendations to town council on revisions to applicable fees, and general discussion of animal related issues within the town.
