Sales Representative – General Construction

Responsible for representing machine sales products in a defined geographic territory with the ultimate goal of sale, lease, purchase, or rental. Targets sales prospecting and sales to new customers in the agricultural, ranching, and general contractor market. Works collaboratively with the sales team to support stability and growth through shared commitment to company values.

Essential Functions
  • Model, promote, and reinforce HOLT’s Values Based Leadership tools and processes to ensure alignment with the Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Identify and initiate contact with potential buyers to meet or exceed territorial and corporate business goals.
  • Source and grow sales through new business opportunities and new customers.
  • Diagnose and respond to specific customer needs to enhance service quality and satisfaction.
  • Promote products and services to the existing customer base while expanding it.
  • Submit accurate and timely sales-related reports and documentation to support business goals.
  • Meet all sales-related key metrics within the review period.
  • Contribute to the development, monitoring, and control of the sales forecast and expenses within the assigned territory.
  • Complete special projects as requested by the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Travel between customer locations.
  • Work safely at all times and comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Hours
  • 50+ hours a week, including late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
  • Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with ability to build long‑term relationships.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Logical reasoning to assess strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and thorough completion of work tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Mathematical proficiency (percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and regulatory documents.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Knowledge of safe work policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques, finance, credit, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred;
    Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience required; six years or more preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • None
Travel
  • Extensive driving required; overnight travel required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform each job duty and responsibility satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
