Description We are looking for an experienced Fiscal Director to lead the financial operations of our organization in Little Falls, Minnesota. This role oversees accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance activities while supporting sound financial decision-making across the agency. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit financial leadership, a command of grant and fund accounting, and the ability to guide both staff and management with clear fiscal insight.

Responsibilities:

- Direct the day-to-day leadership of the fiscal function, ensuring organized, efficient, and compliant financial operations across the agency.

- Develop and maintain accrual-based accounting policies, internal procedures, and financial controls that align with applicable regulations and accepted accounting standards.

- Lead the annual budgeting cycle by gathering financial data, analyzing trends, and partnering with leadership to prepare operating and program budgets.

- Produce and present financial statements, management reports, and funding-related documentation for leadership, the Board, auditors, and external stakeholders.

- Administer fund accounting processes, including journal entries, ledger accuracy, and separate financial tracking for programs, grants, and restricted funding sources.

- Coordinate annual audit preparation and serve as the primary financial liaison with the external audit firm to ensure records are complete and timely.

- Monitor cash position and oversee agency banking activity to support operational stability and informed cash flow management.

- Ensure timely processing and remittance of payroll taxes, employee benefits, retirement contributions, and workers' compensation obligations.

- Partner with program leaders on budget development, monthly expense reviews, grant reporting, and year-end closeout requirements to maintain funding compliance.

- Supervise fiscal staff and contribute financial analysis, forecasts, and recommendations that support strategic planning, resource allocation, and organizational growth. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership, management, or staff supervision responsibilities.

- Background in nonprofit finance with hands-on experience in budgeting, fund accounting, and grant-related financial oversight.

- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial close processes.

- Experience preparing for annual audits and supporting audited financial statements.

- Familiarity with payroll administration and required tax and benefit-related financial obligations.

- Solid understanding of internal controls, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements tied to state, federal, and grant funding.

- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to executives, board members, program leaders, and external partners.
