To excel as a Sanitation Supervisor at Barrett Petfood, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field or have at least 5 years of hands-on sanitation and supervisory experience in the food or pet food manufacturing industry. Successful applicants will have a solid background in sanitation within regulated environments, showcasing their ability to lead effectively in a working supervisor role.
Proficiency in operating forklifts, floor scrubbers, and scissor lifts is essential, as well as a comprehensive understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, and sanitation programs. Day To Day Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee hands-on sanitation and cleaning activities; manage the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
- Conduct routine plant inspections and ensure compliance with SSOPs, GMPs, EMP awareness, and audit requirements (SQF, FDA, customer).
- Develop, maintain, and train on sanitation procedures; maintain accurate sanitation, chemical, and pest control records.
- Manage sanitation tools, supplies, and chemical inventory, including ordering and usage tracking.
- Serve as primary contact for third-party pest control and chemical suppliers; ensure program compliance.
- Safely operate and oversee forklifts, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, and sanitation equipment.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and coach sanitation staff; provide performance feedback to management.
- Coordinate sanitation activities with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
- Identify and support continuous improvement and corrective actions related to sanitation or environmental findings.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
