Bookkeeper​/Tax Preparer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Tax Preparer to join our team. This role combines administrative and organizational responsibilities with basic tax preparation tasks to ensure smooth office operations and accurate financial and tax filings.

The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day office functions, provide excellent customer service, and prepare individual tax returns, with the opportunity to assist on additional tax filings as needed. Compensation is based on prior experience and education level, with opportunities for growth within the firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily office operations, including scheduling client appointments, handling correspondence, and maintaining accurate filing systems
• Prepare federal, state, and local individual tax returns; assist senior tax accountants with small business and corporate tax filings as needed
• Perform light bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and account analysis
• Maintain a working knowledge of public accounting practices and current tax laws
• Utilize accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, and payroll tax reporting tools (preferred)

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with tax software (e.g., Drake) and accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, or similar platforms is a plus
• Prior experience in public accounting, including tax preparation and bookkeeping
• Strong analytical skills to review financial data and identify discrepancies
• High typing accuracy and efficiency for data entry tasks
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
