About the job Accounting Specialist - Temp to Perm
Arkansas Talent Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist on behalf of a respected Non-Profit Organization in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This role works closely with the Controller and supports a wide range of accounting and finance operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with general accounting duties in compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare, post, and review journal entries and transaction details for accuracy and proper classification.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts and confirming the completeness of entries.
- Process payroll and related journal entries when assigned, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining vendor and customer records, and ensuring proper documentation.
- Record and track grant revenues and expenses in accordance with funding and reporting requirements.
- Generate and analyze financial reports to assist management in decision-making.
- Use accounting software and Excel tools (including pivot tables and lookup functions) to perform daily tasks efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to gather information and support financial inquiries.
- Participate in special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of three years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and related formulas).
- Experience with accounting software and a sound understanding of GAAP principles.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable with excellent time management skills.
