The Controller serves as the senior accounting leader for a growing, multi entity heavy civil construction, aggregate production, and equipment leasing group. The role combines hands on accounting with leadership of the finance function in a fast paced, field driven environment.
The Controller reports to the President/Owner and works closely with the Fractional CFO, who provides strategic direction and executive level financial guidance. The Controller owns day to day accounting operations, execution, and team leadership across all entities.

Qualifications Education & Credentials- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA strongly preferred; active CPA candidate with strong progression considered.
- 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Full cycle accounting and monthly close
- Financial statement preparation and GAAP compliance
- Job costing in construction or equipment intensive environments
- Cash flow forecasting and treasury management
- Multi entity and intercompany accounting
- Internal controls design and implementation
- Team supervision and development
- Heavy civil construction, excavation, aggregate production, or equipment leasing experience.
- Foundation Software proficiency (strongly preferred).
- Prior work with external CPA firms and lenders in a Controller capacity.
- Advanced Excel skills (modeling, reporting, and analysis).
- Strong financial leadership and senior level accounting judgment.
- Solid operational understanding of construction and equipment intensive businesses.
- Proven ability to build and lead high performing accounting teams.
- High accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Clear, professional communication with ownership, operations, and advisors.
- Discretion with confidential financial information.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a structured build out environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the Fractional CFO, ownership, and cross functional teams.
- Active CPA license or in final stages of CPA exams.
- Foundation Software or construction accounting certifications.
- Relevant continuing education in construction and equipment intensive accounting.
$115,000 - $140,000 based upon experience and qualifications.
