Job Summary

The role of the Marketing Analyst involves a multifaceted approach to managing and analyzing financial data related to oil and natural gas purchase contracts. The primary responsibilities include ensuring accurate oil and gas differentials, identifying automation opportunities, and optimizing the flow of data within the organization. Additionally, the position requires conducting basic financial analysis concerning contracts and pricing, which may involve reviewing historical data on natural gas prices.

This role is also responsible for the upkeep and management of contract databases, including updating information in the gas contracts database and the ION system. Creating Business Intelligence reports and metrics is another critical function, requiring the analysis of data and the provision of comprehensive summaries or reports to management. Performs a wide variety of tasks; contributes to process improvements.

Leads the work of small project teams; may formally train less experienced team members. Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and practices in the area of specialization. Identifies possible solutions for problems/issues of diverse scope using existing solutions. Works under general supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gathers information from database management system(s) and provides analysis.
  • Builds models to verify & forecast oil & gas settlement statements.
  • Responsible for origination of automation opportunities within marketing organization.
  • Handles maintenance and administration of oil & gas contracts necessary to report differentials.
  • Prepares gas price accruals for prior month production. Provides analysis and explanations for the variances between accruals and actuals.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or similar field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced with business intelligence tools (Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Data warehouse experience and understanding of data structure across multiple data sources/databases
  • Understanding of relational databases
  • Oil and gas database experience (Aries, Pro Count, SAP, etc.)
  • Basic to intermediate coding (SQL preferred skills)
  • Advanced Excel skills
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
