We are currently accepting applications for a Project Manager / Estimator for our Highway division. The ideal candidate will be well organized, great at time management, and detail oriented.
This is a safety sensitive position. Must have an acceptable driving record.
Position Summary
The Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for estimating, bidding, and managing heavy civil and asphalt construction projects from award through final completion. This position works closely with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Estimating and Preconstruction
* Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
* Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
* Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
* Develop bid pricing, schedules, and proposals.
* Analyze project risks, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
* Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
* Prepare and submit bids and negotiate contract terms.
* Maintain historical cost data and estimating databases.
Project Management
* Manage projects from award through final acceptance.
* Develop and maintain project schedules.
* Monitor project budgets, production rates, and costs.
* Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, utilities, and owner representatives.
* Review and process subcontracts, purchase orders, invoices, and pay applications.
* Prepare and negotiate change orders.
* Manage project documentation, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes.
* Track and document delays, disruptions, and schedule impacts.
* Prepare monthly cost projections and project forecasts.
* Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
* Participate in project meetings and maintain positive client relationships.
Contract Administration
* Review and interpret contract documents.
* Identify and document differing site conditions, delays, and potential claims.
* Prepare requests for time extensions and equitable adjustments.
* Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
* Assist with project closeout, punch list completion, and final acceptance.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil, highway, asphalt paving, or site development construction.
* Strong understanding of construction methods, estimating, scheduling, and contract administration.
* Experience with DOT and public works projects preferred.
* Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or the ability to obtain licensure, is a plus.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and B2W and/or HCSS software.
* Proficiency in Primavera P6.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
