- To provide technical, site level and “hands on” expertise of the organizations safety management system.
- Ensures adherence to all company and legislated policy and procedure contributing to an incident free construction project.
- Utilize past experiences and formal training to assist, coordinate/direct the efforts of the project team prior/during the planning, mobilization, execution and demobilization phases ensuring the safe, reliable and effective performance contributing to total client and company satisfaction.
- Leads and assists in the construction project “scope of work” clarification, when required, to determine the appropriate level of task/risk assessments are complete with client and project team.
- Acts as the focal point/link between the client, internal management and labor ensuring details and expectations of personal safety performance are clear and understood.
- Ensures that all man‑power/tools/equipment/materials (PPE) and facilities and overall project safety resources are aligned and committed.
- Acts as a resource on all project task activities providing coaching and mentoring to supervisory and labor staff and champions the incident prevention/investigation process and conflict resolution follow up, internal and external with the client involving safety, quality control, schedule and performance concerns.
- Monitors project activities, ensuring compliance to all legislative, organizational and client safety policy and procedure guidelines.
- Ensures all monitoring/reporting systems are in place and adhered to, ensuring the accurate daily progress reporting and safety compliance statistics.
- Tracks and reports internally and to client on project changes that will adversely affect employee and equipment risk.
- Informs construction manager of progress and complies with all organizational reporting requirements.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Post‑secondary certification diploma or degree from an accredited college, university or technical school in a relevant discipline considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities regarding OSH principles.
- Training and professional development from an accredited industry association.
- Board of Certified Safety Professional STS(C) and/or CHST or equivalent preferred.
- 5-10 years proven proficiency in an industrial or commercial work environment in a project coordination capacity.
- Excellent technical, planning, organization, communication and leadership skills.
