Summary of
Job Duties:
The Assistant Professor of Biology teaching duties include the department's core courses and classes in phylogenetics or computational biology. The candidate is expected to complement and enhance the existing strength of the department by establishing an extramurally funded research program and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students within their area of expertise. Service to the department, college, and the university is expected of all faculty.
This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or
Experience:
* Earned Ph.D. in Biology, Computational Biology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred Education and/or
Experience:
* Minimum of one year of postdoctoral experience;
* Experience teaching and developing undergraduate labs in phylogenetics;
* Evidence of a strong commitment to student-centered instruction and evidence-based teaching methods;
* Evidence of a commitment to science education outreach and/or community engagement;
* A track record of research productivity;
* Knowledge of different methods of student learning and assessment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Teaching duties include the department's core courses and upper-level courses in the candidate's specialty;
* Establish and maintain a research program that incorporates undergraduates and graduate students with external funding;
* Provide service to the Biology Department, the Donaghey College of STEM, and the University.

* Commitment to inclusive teaching;
* Ability to provide effective mentorship;
* Ability to work, communicate, and collaborate in a departmental team from a variety of research backgrounds.
