Assistant Teacher​/Behavior Interventionist

Non-Exempt

To identify, assess, and implement academic and/or behavioral interventions for students whose behavior and/or achievement prevent or impede their personal academic success or the academic success of others.

To work with school personnel to ensure students are successful in the general education classroom with limited support and intervention.

• Experience with implementing individual academic and behavior interventions
• Knowledge of instructional intervention strategies and implementation
• Personal skills necessary to communicate and coordinate interventions with parents, intervention team, and classroom teachers
• High School diploma with passing score on Work Keys test
• Two year Associate Degree preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees or superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Principal

• Observe individual students and classroom groups as requested by principal for the purpose of implementing interventions.
• Implement all phases of individual or group interventions as assigned by the principal.
• Complete progress monitoring and documenting of behavior changes and academic achievement.
• Completion of records and forms as assigned by principal.
• Communicate progress of students to intervention team chairman and students' classroom teachers.
• Attend meetings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee may be required to restrain students as may be needed to prevent injury to individual student or others.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
