Job Description:

The Pastor to Students is an elder‑qualified man who provides pastoral leadership for the student ministries of BCLR. The Pastor to Students will be responsible for planning and leading weekly services for seventh through twelfth grade students, preaching and teaching weekly, organizing and training volunteers, and planning and leading events. This includes the implementation of BCLR’s vision and distinctives in the student ministry.

He also serves the congregation through the performance of pastoral and shepherding duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Ministry Duties

Preach and teach to the students on Sundays and Wednesdays

Coordinate Wednesday evening services and Sunday morning Equipping Hour

Disciple, counsel, and equip students throughout the week and equip parents to disciple their children

Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers and teachers in Student Ministries

Plan, organize, and lead student events

Oversee the student ministry budget and resources

Set, attain, evaluate, and modify short‑term and long‑term goals for the student ministry that align with the vision of BCLR

General Pastoral Duties

Shepherd and disciple the congregation

Preach and teach
Officiate communion (as requested)
Officiate baptisms, funerals, and weddings

Provide biblical counseling

Attend Pastoral Staff and Elder Board meetings and retreats

Participate in Care Groups

Participate in church-wide events, seminars, retreats, ministries, and conferences

Position

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Ongoing growth in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and a life above reproach that exemplifies 1 Timothy 3:1‑7 and Titus 1:5‑9
Affirmation of the BCLR Doctrinal Statement, Membership Covenant, and Philosophies of Ministry
Post‑graduate degree, such as a Master of Divinity or similar
A history of demonstrated excellence as a leader in student ministry or a similar ministry environment
Strong understanding of evangelism and discipleship of students and their parents
Proven initiative and willingness to grow professionally
A heart for the spiritual formation of those in the congregation and the student ministry

Preferred Qualifications

Married
Ordained
Demonstrated excellence as a Pastor to Students
2+ years of experience serving on an Elder Board
Skilled use of technology used to facilitate student ministry, such as sound, computers, and presentation software (e.g., Proclaim, PowerPoint, Planning Center Online)
Biblical counseling certification
Preferred software skills:
Planning Center, Google Drive
