Student Success and Leadership Development
Position SummaryThe Extra Help Assistant is responsible for providing unskilled, semi‑skilled labor or performing basic office tasks in a state agency or institution. This position supports students and faculty within the Student Success & Leadership Development department.
Responsibilities- Serve as a peer mentor and assist students with navigating college life;
- Attend all mandatory training and meetings throughout the term;
- Facilitate discussions with student mentees twice a month;
- Become familiar with various resources on campus;
- Inform supervisor of any student concerns;
- Create and participate in opportunities to support student mentees;
- Regularly attend Trojan Leadership Fellows Program events;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong time management and communication skills;
- Display a fitting, cooperative, and approachable attitude and demeanor;
- Communicate by effectively writing, listening, and speaking;
- Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population;
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
- Demonstrate flexibility in your approach to mentoring.
- High school diploma or the formal education equivalent;
- Currently enrolled as a UA Little Rock student;
- Must be a sophomore with 30 or more credit hours.
Salary: $1,000 stipend
