The ELD teacher's primary responsibilities consist of providing instruction for students identified as English-Second Language/Language Minority Students and are presently performing below grade level on State and language proficiency assessments, as well as providing instructional knowledge and assistance to classroom teachers.

Lacey K-8 Academy will serve as a beacon to stakeholders and an avenue to addressing trauma, promoting wellbeing, and elevating learning for all. This will be done through giving deliberate intention to implementing school-wide systems that embody mastery-based learning opportunities, a growth-based educational approach, and strength-based instruction in every classroom.

Learners will engage in high levels of hands-on experiences, real world investigations, and applied literacy and mathematics learning. Students at Lacey will have opportunities to engage in structured science, technology, reading/writing, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STREAM) experiences from kindergarten through eighth grade, building a strong cohort of leaders who possess 21st Century skills for collaborative problem-solving, technological literacy, and career-readiness.

Terms of employment:
Nine and one-fourth (9.25) – Month Contract Position, (190 days), plus benefit package. Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. This position is reviewed annually and is contingent upon continued funding FLSA:

EXEMPT.

• Valid Arkansas teaching certificate in Middle Level Education 4-8.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
• ESL endorsement and additional work with SIOP I and SIOP II training is desired.
• Three or more years of recent classroom experience at the middle level, preference given to work with English language learners.
• Bilingual preferred – Proficient in speaking English as well as Spanish or willing to learn.
• Expertise and experience related to literacy and second language acquisition is required.
• Mastery of effective instructional techniques and strategies that lead to improved student achievement in all content areas.
• Knowledge of implementation of best ESL practices as well as integrating in a mainstream classroom.
• Knowledge of interventions appropriate for English language learners and the RTI process.
• Evidence of strong organizational skills.
• Evidence of expert use of technology both at the instructional level and usage level.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and leadership abilities.
• Conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District and ian G. Lacey K-8 Academy.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Will provide instruction/interventions for 6-8 students who are identified as ESOL/LEP and or working below grade level in any of the subject below grade level.
• Collaborate with grade level teachers in planning daily lessons, analyzing data, and providing appropriate interventions/modifications.
• Monitor student progress.
• Serve on LPAC:
  Maintain paperwork for students identified as LMS.
• Observe students in their classrooms to ensure transfer and success of intervention.
• Provide small group instruction for students in grades 6-8.
• Communicates student's progress to parents and teachers as well as instructional support team in the school.
• Participates in creating an environment conducive to the learning and growth of all children.
• Enters data online and prepares reports for school and district.
• Attends professional development as necessary.
• Administers Various assessments as well as but not limited to ELDA, MAC II, and Diagnostic Tests to children.
