Job DescriptionJOB GOAL:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package.
NOTE:
Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: EXEMPT.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.
- Arkansas teacher’s license appropriate for level and/or subject area assignment.
- Competence in teaching experience demonstrated by an electronic portfolio that highlights coherent instruction, questioning and discussion techniques, engaging students, and technology integration.
- Relevant teaching experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant technology.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent or required by the Board.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Teach assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, LRSD Curriculum Guides, and other appropriate learning activities. Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the District.
- Planning and Preparation:
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, demonstrating pedagogy, knowledge of students, instructional goals, and assessment of student learning. - Classroom Environment:
Establish a culture of learning, manage classroom procedure and student behavior, organize physical space, and apply disciplinary measures when necessary. - Instruction:
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of students; communicate with students, use questioning and discussion techniques, engage students in learning, use assessment in instruction, and utilize technology. Integrate STEM concepts and inquiry methodologies into units and lessons. - Professional Responsibilities:
Reflect on teaching, maintain accurate records, communicate with families, contribute to the assigned school and the district, grow and develop professionally, demonstrate professionalism, and use data to inform instruction. - Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. The position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information.
Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
