Job DescriptionJob Goal: The Grade Level Team Lead is a teacher who, as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, plays a critical role in helping a school reach its student achievement goals. The Grade Level Team Lead spends part of the day providing high-quality instruction in their own classroom and part of the day developing a team of teachers’ ability to deliver joyful, rigorous and personalized instruction that leads to high academic achievement.
As an expert in their content area, the Grade Level Team Lead facilitates collaborative team time, provides 1‑on‑1 observation and coaching to peers, and models classroom lessons.
- Build the instructional capacity of a team of teachers, creating a culture of continuous learning that maximizes staff and student morale and performance.
- Spend part of the day teaching in their own classroom and part developing teachers’ instructional ability.
- Facilitate collaborative team time and provide 1‑on‑1 observation and coaching.
- Collaborate with School Leaders to align teacher supports with school‑wide instructional priorities.
- Implement a constant coaching cycle with observation and feedback.
- Select techniques based on teacher needs: co‑planning, co‑teaching/modeling, sharing resources, and facilitating small group or whole‑staff professional learning.
- Contribute to a year‑long professional development plan and provide whole‑staff professional learning when relevant.
- When appropriate, contribute to district‑wide professional learning support to advance practices of teachers across schools.
The goal is to build the instructional capacity of a team of teachers, creating a culture of continuous learning that maximizes morale and performance, thus increasing student achievement.
Terms of EmploymentThis position is a 9.25‑month contract (190 days) plus benefits.
Qualifications- Effectively instruction that leads to growth in student outcomes, evaluated by assessment data and the district’s evaluation tools.
- Lead and develop a team of teachers through coaching, observation, feedback, professional learning, and facilitation of collaborative team time.
- Share ownership and belief in the academic success of every child and the closing of achievement gaps.
- Deliver instruction aligned to standards and curriculum using the HQIM framework.
- Implement rigorous and relevant curriculum and maintain daily and long‑term planning in all classrooms.
- Improve assessment practices, data analysis, and action planning.
- Meet all licensure and certification requirements for a teacher role in LRSD.
- Create welcoming and inclusive classroom learning environments.
- Serve as a member of the school’s Instructional Leadership Team, supporting alignment and accountability.
- Demonstrate values‑driven, reflective, and resilient leadership that fosters a collective commitment to school values.
Regularly sit, stand, walk, use telephone, write; occasionally lift more than 20 pounds. Must work the full contracted time with minimal absences.
