Summary ofJob Duties
The Chemistry Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a 9‑month Graduate Teaching Assistant. The Graduate Teaching Assistant will be assigned to teach courses/laboratories in the Chemistry Program as a condition of your assistantship. The remainder of your time is devoted to academics and your thesis / dissertation research.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution of higher education
- Regular admission or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students
- Ability to work the required hours (FT‑50% – 20 hrs/wk; PT‑25% – 10 hrs/wk) with regular attendance
- Required to have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Tutoring undergraduate students
- Run, manage, and teach undergraduate freshman, analytical, organic, or other labs as assigned
- Grade lab reports, quizzes, and exams as assigned
- Prepare lab reagents and maintain safety protocols during and after lab sessions
- Manage lab waste and cleanliness of the lab
- Proctor exams or quizzes
- Chemistry major with GPA at least 3.5 (4.0 scale)
- Coursework covering the four sub‑disciplines of chemistry (Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, and Organic)
- Proof of English proficiency
