Radiologic Imaging Sciences Faculty Position

The College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Division of Radiologic Imaging Sciences located at the UAMS campus in Little Rock, Arkansas. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, resourceful individual to contribute to an established, high quality program that enjoys strong institutional and community support.

The faculty position is a 12-month non-tenure track position at the rank of instructor or assistant professor. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications.

The Radiologic Imaging Sciences program admits 43 students per year for the full-time, 23-month Bachelor of Science degree track. Approximately 85 students are enrolled in the RIS program at any one time. An online degree completion option is also available to radiographers wanting to earn a BS degree in Radiologic Imaging Sciences. Admission into the RIS program is competitive and is based on utilizing an individualized, holistic admission process that considers both academic and non-academic admission factors.

The curriculum emphasizes active learning methods that focus on integration and application of material and critical thinking skills. In-class sessions and labs incorporate problem-based and team-based learning, as well as inter-professional learning experiences. Students utilize skills and concepts acquired in class in real-world, hands-on clinical practicums. Graduates of the program are eligible to take one or more national certification examinations administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is the only academic health sciences university in the state of Arkansas and the state's largest public employer with more than 10,000 employees in 73 of Arkansas' 75 counties. UAMS offers 64 professional and specialist degree programs and certificates through our Colleges of Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Graduate School.

The campus offers state of the art library and clinical simulation facilities. Programs at the campus are designed to promote inter-professional learning and clinical experiences.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related or education discipline (Candidates possessing a bachelor's degree will be expected to attain a master's degree in education or a health-related discipline).
  • Minimum of 3 years' recent post-certification clinical experience.
  • Current ARRT(R) certification.
  • ARRT certification in mammography must be obtained and active prior to the date of application
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to identify and solve problems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in an education or health-related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' recent post-certification clinical experience in mammography
Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver instruction in assigned areas of expertise.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and service initiatives consistent with university, college, and core faculty expectations.
  • Contribute to program development, curriculum planning, and assessment activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate students completing clinical practicum requirements.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Participate in student admissions, recruitment, and outreach activities.
