Adjunct Faculty Position

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking an Adjunct Faculty to teach American Sign Language or interpreter training courses at the post-secondary level. This position will be responsible for teaching course(s) in-class, assessing student-submitted work, and following the course objectives and syllabus prepared for the course. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or

Experience:

  • Master's degree in ASL, Interpreting, or other related fields;
  • Native or native-like competency in ASL.

Preferred Education and/or

Experience:

  • Experience teaching in-class and online.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses;
  • Assess student-submitted work;
  • Follow course objectives and syllabus;
  • Commit to teaching the entire university semester;
  • Participate as a part of the IEP faculty team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of classroom instruction;
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate a diverse population of students;
  • Collegial and cordial attitude toward interaction with colleagues, students, and staff;
  • Demonstrable content knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture and closely related fields and the ties between the field and various allied disciplines;
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work with minimal direct supervision.

Salary Information:
Commensurate with education and experience
