AMS Little Rock Compensation: $15 – $17/ per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant), you will work alongside educators to support student learning and classroom operations. This role includes providing small-group and individualized support, assisting with classroom management, and helping maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Support lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and transitions

Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and reteach concepts

Support individualized learning plans and student interventions

Student Supervision & Environment Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safety

Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Support behavior management and reinforce expectations

Operations & Collaboration Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources

Assist with grading and documentation as directed

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff

Substitute for lead teachers as needed

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional examORAssociate’s degree or higher

Prior experience working with children in a school setting

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative

Preferred:

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience working in Title I or diverse school environments

Background Requirements (Arkansas)
Arkansas State Background Check Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting
