ResponsibilitiesAs an EL Teacher Mentor/Consultant/Instructional Coach in Arkansas, your day‑to‑day responsibilities will revolve around supporting and guiding fellow educators in delivering effective English language instruction. To excel as an EL Teacher Mentor/Consultant/Instructional Coach in Arkansas, you need a diverse set of skills tailored to the needs of English language learners and their educators. A deep understanding of the Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language methodology is critical, as you will guide teachers in effectively preparing students for the ELPT assessment. Proficiency with technology is essential;
familiarity with computer‑based testing platforms and innovative tools used to engage students in interactive learning scenarios will enhance your coaching effectiveness. Strong analytical skills will enable you to evaluate student performance data, identify trends and areas for improvement across the four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital, as you will cultivate collaborative relationships with educators, encouraging a problem‑solving mindset and fostering a supportive learning environment focused on student success.
Skills
- Experience teaching and success as an English as a Second or foreign language teacher
- Ability to assist Arkansas classroom teachers in preparing EL students to successfully master the ELPT assessment.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in education or teaching certification in Arkansas
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Excellent communication skills
- May be bilingual or have experience working in multilingual communities
