Academies of Math and Science Extended Care Associate 2026–2027

Location:

AMS Little Rock Compensation: $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

Required:

Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (aftercare; non-negotiable)
Optional: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM (before-care, based on availability)

Position Overview The Extended Care Associate is responsible for supervising students during before- and after-school programming. This role supports a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students can participate in activities, complete homework, and build positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities Student Supervision & Safety Ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff

Maintain a structured and supervised environment during extended care hours

Student Engagement & Activities Support and facilitate daily activities aligned with the program schedule

Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate activities

Provide homework assistance and academic support

Classroom Environment & Operations Distribute snacks and supplies to students

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment

Support behavior management and reinforce expectations

Communication & Collaboration Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff

Collaborate with school staff to support student needs

Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a school setting or customer service-related field

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative

Preferred:

Experience working with school-age children

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Background Requirements Arkansas State Background Check Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting

Physical Requirements This role is performed in a school setting and may include standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

Ability to stand and move for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally

Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
