This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of input data and analytical results within SPP's Energy Management Systems (EMS) and related platforms. • Maintain and improve EMS, Network, Commercial, and related models supporting reliability, market, balancing, tariff, and scheduling functions
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of real-time data, ICCP exchanges, displays, and state estimator results
  • Support load and wind forecasting systems and validate modeling work performed by the team
  • Follow modeling standards, change control procedures, and complete required SSAE
16, NERC, and FERC compliance activities
  • Develop, test, and implement EMS applications, vendor software/hardware updates, and custom modeling tools
  • Coordinate model changes and data exchanges with internal departments, members, neighboring systems, and vendors
  • Document processes, research and resolve system issues, and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Provide leadership through stakeholder engagement, committee participation, mentoring, and team support

To be successful as an Engineer on the Modeling & Data Integrity team we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with eligibility to sit for the Professional Engineer exam (e.g., ABET-accredited program)
  • Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field; preferred programs:
Electrical, Computer, Industrial, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
  • Engineer I – no experience required
  • Engineer II – Two (2) years of job-related experience; not eligible for remote work
  • Sr Engineer – Five (5) years of relevant engineering experience; PE license may satisfy one year of experience
  • Experience with power system engineering, operations engineering, or transmission planning
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred
:

  • Working knowledge of EMS state-estimator and/or power flow software
  • Experience with EMS or power flow modeling
  • Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
  • Experience with Dispatch Training Simulators (DTS);
