Lead or Sr. Technical Analyst – Operations Planning (Architecture)

COMPENSATION INFORMATION- Sr. Technical Analyst – salary range - $97,580 - $126,790
- Lead Technical Analyst – salary range - $112,240-$145,810
Operational Planning Technical Analysts perform forward‑looking operational studies across the SPP footprint within the Operational Planning horizon to ensure reliable real‑time system operations. This role is responsible for developing powerflow models, identifying potential system reliability risks, and implementing operating plans and mitigations to support the integrity of the Bulk Electric System.
The analyst collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to communicate study results, coordinate outages, develop operating guides, and ensure compliance with applicable reliability standards and market requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and analyze forward‑looking powerflow models to identify potential system reliability risks
- Identify and mitigate SOL and IROL exceedances through operating plans, operating guides, congestion management tools, and outage coordination
- Coordinate, review, and approve planned outages to ensure Bulk Electric System reliability
- Communicate study results and operating plans with internal operations staff and external stakeholders
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned systems, tools, and processes
- Ensure compliance with SPP policies, NERC standards, and FERC requirements
- Lead improvements, tool enhancements, and special projects
- Provide on‑call operational support and mentor junior staff
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline;
Two (2) years of job‑related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement - Sr. Technical Analyst - Five (5) years of job‑related work experience (In excess of Educational Requirements above)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong inter‑personal and teamwork skills
- Documented experience in power system engineering, operations engineering, transmission planning or related disciplines
- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
- NERC Certification
- This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
This position requires minimal (0-20%) travel
